Midas Platinum Quality Award
Each year, Midas Health Analytics Solutions recognizes excellence in clinical healthcare through its Platinum Quality Award, presented at
the annual Midas Annual Symposium in Tucson, Arizona. This award reflects achievement in quality outcomes, care efficiency,
and consistent delivery of evidence-based best practices in healthcare delivery.
Organizations that use either the Midas+ Comparative Performance Measurement System (CPMS) or Midas DataVision™ are
eligible.
Midas Health Analytics Solutions grants the Platinum Quality Award to organizations that score in the top 5 percent among their eligible
peers in the Midas Comparative Database (CDB), which consists of nearly 800 hospitals.
About the Platinum Quality Scorecard
The Midas Platinum Quality Scorecard is a method for scoring the quality performance of a facility or organization for
selected criteria, and awarding points based on the facility’s ranking among its peers. The Platinum Quality Scorecard
consists of two sections. The first section evaluates utilization efficiency and clinical efficacy. These concepts are
reflected in nonelective readmission rates and the All-or-None Bundles (bundle sets). The bundle sets are considered
measures of perfect care because they reflect instances where a given patient receives all the care for which that
patient is eligible.
The second section includes mortality and average length-of-stay observed/expected ratio measures that use risk- and
severity-adjusted measures based on 3M™ Health Information Systems All Patient Refined Diagnostic Related Groups (APR DRGs).
Midas Health Analytics Solutions selected these measures because they represent high-volume, problem-prone populations for which
evidence-based, best practice standards are available.
